About cmd+zest

cmd+zest started with a simple premise - create a short and sweet experience for creative professionals that speaks to their process.

The form this concept took is that of a shortcut. At a practical side, we've all experienced remembering our most used shortcuts. Lil' key combinations that make our lives easier (or more difficult, depending on how often you have to export an image from Photoshop).

We looked at it from a slightly different angle. Why not celebrate these shortcuts instead as creative processes. In their messy glory.

The quiz

The quiz started out as a simple setup. 5 quick questions, with introspective and unserious answers; but also holding a kernel of truth to it. Each one gets mapped and weighted. Based on these combinations, there's 9 potential outcomes for where you fit in.

To commemorate that we wanted to go a bit further, making custom posters to celebrate that creative shortcut and process.

A memento of the "other" side of the creative process. The one that doesn't get glamorized as much, but that's still a key component for many of us.

DDD Milano

The concept originated as part of a promotional setup at DDD's 10th anniversary in Milano. So if you've found yourself here, you most likely came through a special QR code that you found in a tote bag. Of course that QR code was connected with a custom enamel pin as well.

At the time of writing we'd been frantically finalising this experience before the conference itself. Hope you enjoyed discovering your own creative shortcut.
